Skin striae, or stretcth marks are streaks that are seen on the skin of the abdomen, hips, breasts, buttocks and more. Not all stretch marks look the same and some may be pink, red, blue or purple, cover little to big areas, and may be dark or light. Causes may include medical conditions such as Cushing’s syndrome but usually it's the result of rapid changes in weight such as pregnancy, rapid growth, rapid loss or gain of weight, using corticosteroids, and having breast enlargement surgery. Stretch marks are not dangerous and do not require any treatment, but some creams may help them fade away more quickly, although none was proven to be effective.
