Septate uterus refers to a congenital condition which is characterized by a membrane which splits the uterus into two parts. This septum starts in the top of the uterus and may extend until the bottom of it. Many women will not be aware of having this condition, as it will not cause any symptoms while others will learn about it if they have trouble getting or staying pregnant. It could either be a complete septate uterus which runs through all the uterus into the cervix and even the vagina or a partial septate uterus, which does not extend to the cervix.
