by Alike Medical Team ∙ Updated on June 13, 2023
Premature ejaculation refers to male orgasm soon after or even before penetration during sexual intercourse. It is a common condition that causes frustration for both partners. Different guidelines use different definitions regarding the amount of time until ejaculation occurs, and there are also different levels of severity. Premature ejaculation may be caused due to a hormonal problem, low serotonin or dopamine levels, performance anxiety, stress, problems in relationships, and depression. There are also medications that may cause it.
