The penile shaft may curvature due to peyronie disease, often preceded by painful erections and associated with fibrosis. As a result of buckling of the penile shaft with intromission or lack of rigidity distal to the area associated with fibrosis, the characteristic angulation is frequently associated with erectile dysfunction (ED). It appears that distal penile blood supply has been compromised, resulting in lack of rigidity.
