Psychogenic purpura, or Gardner- Diamond syndrome) refers to a condition characterized by painful ecchymosis which is not explained by an underlying bleeding disorder or trauma. The mechanism of psychogenic purpura is not well understood, but there is a correlation between the condition and conversion disorders. It usually follows a traumatic event. In some, the condition recurs.
