Pseudoarthrosis is a condition in which broken bones fail to heal and reconnect after suffering from fractures. It is called pseudoarthrosis because the fracture looks like a fibrous joint. It is more common in adults after suffering from trauma or surgery. The exact reason for pseudoarthrosis is not known yet, but there could be a genetic predisposition to it. Also, risk factors include old age, poor nutrition, alcohol consumption, smoking, and hyperparathyroidism.
