General
Guttate psoriasis refers to an acute skin condition following infection such as strep throat. It usually affects children and young adults. In approximately one third of those who have it, chronic psoriasis may develop.

Signs & symptoms
Symptoms include round, pink or red patches on the skin, which could be irritated or itchy.
Diagnosis
Diagnosis is based upon findings from medical history and physical examination. Further evaluation may include skin biopsy, blood tests, and throat swab culture.
Treatment
Treatment for mild cases include topical corticosteroids and lotions while severe cases are treated with immunosuppressant medications, biologic medications, and phototherapy.
