Gingival Hyperplasia refers to a condition which is characterized by overgrowth of the gum tissue around the teeth. It is usually caused due to inflammation, which causes plaque buildup. It can also be caused due to pregnancy, diseases such as HIV, diabetes, anemia, Crohn’s disease, lymphoma, vitamin deficiency or as a side effect of medications such as antiepileptic drugs, immunosuppressants, and calcium channel blockers.
