Signs & symptoms
Symptoms of Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome may include: - Pain in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen - Pain during sexual intercourse - Pain during urination - Fever - Nausea and vomiting - Fatigue - Jaundice
Diagnosis
Diagnosis of Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome may involve a physical examination, blood tests to check liver function, and imaging tests such as ultrasound or MRI. A laparoscopy may also be done to examine the liver and abdominal cavity.
Treatment
Treatment for Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome typically involves antibiotics to treat any underlying infection, pain management medications, and in some cases, surgery to remove any infected tissue. The underlying cause of the infection may also need to be addressed.
