Cauliflower ear is a condition caused by problems in the blood flow to the ear, usually caused by trauma or an injury. The blockage of blood flow results in a bumpy appearance, resembling cauliflower. It could also be caused due to ear lobe infection.

Symptoms usually start with swelling, redness and bruising of the area. Then, if not treated, scar tissue may be formed and with time the ear gets a deformed look.
Diagnosis is based upon findings from medical history and physical examination.
Treatment has to occur once the trauma or injury to the ear has occurred, in order to ease the blood blockage. It is done by making a small incision for the blood to drain and for blood clot to be removed.
