A bicornuate uterus describes an irregularly in the uterus shape. A bicornuate uterus is heart-shaped, appearing to have two sides instead of being one hollow cavity. This condition may cause problems conceiving, pain during menstrual cycles, or even lack of menstrual periods.

Signs & symptoms
Symptoms that may accompany bicornuate uterus are: - Frequent miscarriages - Vaginal bleeding - Painful menstruation - Painful intercourse
Diagnosis
Your healthcare provider may enquire you about your symptoms, medical history, previous childbirths, and your menstrual cycle. Then they will conduct a pelvic exam to check for any abnormalities in your pelvic area: your vagina, cervix, and uterus. Based on the findings they may choose to refer you to further tests such as ultrasound and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
Treatment
In most cases, this condition does not need to be surgically treated. In rare cases, A bicornuate uterus may be surgically treated through a surgery called metroplasty. This surgery is aimed at changing the uterus shape.
