Biceps tendinitis is an inflammation or irritation of the upper biceps tendon - the tendon of the biceps muscle located in the upper arm.

Signs & symptoms

Symptoms of bicipital tendinitis may include one of more of the followings: - Pain or tenderness in the front of the shoulder - Pain that moves down the upper arm bone - A frequent snapping sound in the shoulder

Diagnosis

After discussing your symptoms and medical history, your healthcare provider will examine your shoulder. They may refer you to further imaging tests to confirm your diagnosis.

Treatment

Non-surgical treatment may be effective in most patients. This treatment contains: rest, ice, painkillers, steroid injections, and physical therapy. In some cases when surgery is required, the damaged tendon can be replaced or repaired, depending on the severity of the injury.
