A benign, non-cancerous, stomach tumor is a type of growth that will not spread outside your stomach to the rest of your body. It may grow locally, and cause problems because of it, but it is usually not a life-threatening disease.
There are many types of non- cancerous gastric tumors. The most common type is a gastric polyp. A Polyp is an abnormal growth of cells that can be either flat (sessile) or mushroom shaped (pedunculated). Other, less common, types of tumors include benign GIST (gastrointestinal stromal tumor), leiomyoma, lipoma and many more.

- Benign Neoplasm of Stomach
Most benign tumors do not cause any signs and symptoms.
If the tumor is very large it can cause pain in your upper belly, weight loss, nausea and vomiting.
Some tumors might bleed into your stomach turning your feces black (this is called Melena), and making you feel weaker than usual
Most benign tumors are found incidentally, while performing an endoscopy for another reason.
If your doctor suspects a benign tumor based on your symptoms, he or she will ask you to have an endoscopy done.
In order to confirm the diagnosis your doctor will perform a biopsy, meaning he or she will take a small piece of the tumor to examine under the microscope.
Further tests will be needed according to the biopsy results.
Most non-cancerous tumors should be removed surgically. The type of surgery depends on the size and exact location of the tumor inside your stomach.
