Signs & symptoms

Diagnosis

Based on your medical history and physical examination, your healthcare provider may refer you the further tests: - Blood tests - to distinguish your AiH from other hepatitis. - Liver biopsy - to confirm the Autoimmune hepatitis diagnosis and estimate the damage to the liver.

Treatment

The main treatment for autoimmune hepatitis is prednisone to stop or slow down the progression of the inflammation. In more severe cases, liver transplantation may be to only way of treatment.
