Aneurysm of Pulmonary Arteries (PAA) is a rare condition, infrequently diagnosed. An aneurysm is a focal dilatation of the three blood vessels layers. Pseudoaneurysms do not involve all layers of the arterial wall but possess a higher risk of rupture. PAA may be present at birth or acquired during childhood or adulthood. The main cause for PAA include atherosclerosis, inflammatory vasculitis such as Behchet syndrome, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary artery catheterization, cystic medial necrosis, Marfan syndrome, trauma, tuberculosis, syphilis, and septic emboli.Mycotic aneurysms may occur with bacterial endocarditis or pneumonia.

Symptoms usually are not present but when present, are not specific and include dyspnea, cough and chest pain.
Pulmonary artery aneurysms are usually discovered incidentally on chest radiographic imaging. On physical examination, heart murmurs may be heard. CT and MRI with intravenous contrast may establish the diagnosis.
Treatment depends on the prognosis of the patient, and may not require any intervention, and may only keep under observation. For people who develop symptoms such as hemoptysis, evidence of continuing growth or expansion, and refractory hypoxemia, there is an indication for surgical correction with a graft. Alternative strategies including embolization, lobectomy, banding, and endovascular grafting
