Acute flaccid myelitis refers to a rare condition which is characterized by sudden weakness and loss of muscle tone. It is more common in young children, a few weeks after they suffer from a respiratory illness or a viral infection caused by enterovirus.

There is no specific treatment for acute flaccid myelitis, but some treatments may include IVIG and corticosteroids.
