What to Expect After a Total Hysterectomy?

Can anyone here tell me what all to expect after having a total hysterectomy? I’m scared to death about the instant menopause and if it’s going to hurt terribly. I also don’t know what else to expect which is making my anxiety much worse. If anyone has any advice or can tell me what I should expect, I would greatly appreciate it.

It’s painful. I won’t lie about that but a good team will manage your pain properly. You just have to limit your movements for a few weeks or more, depending on your own system.

I had a full hysterectomy back in 2014. Done roboticly. 5 weeks out, I was Zip Lining for my daughter's Birthday. Technology is so different from what it used to be. I personally had minimal pain. For myself, I can't take any estrogen supplements because I'm on Coumadin (blood thinner) the only thing for me is that I don't sleep very well.

Did any of you experience a lack of a sex drive or anything like that? I ask because I’m a newly wed and I’m scared it will effect our life in that way. And what should I expect from the memopause?

My drive went down. (Doesn't mean yours will) Good communication with your husband is always important.

well like Karen 37 said, everybody its diferent. When I had it done was 2007. Was out of work for a week. The first day was painful, but wasn't so bad. But Igad a great team of doctors.. About the sex drive I think didn't change in my case.
