Symptoms of ADHD or Anxiety?

is it normal to have these symptoms at 17?: - Constant forgetfulness ( appointments, texting back, how to navigate somewhere) - Mind drifting off when I'm doing a task or when someone is talking to me - Misplacing items (glasses, phone, schoolwork) way too often - Short attention span (10-15 minutes) I'm not sure if it's linked to my anxiety because it started happening for the past 8 months. these are also signs of ADHD so I'm confused, i need answers

Yep- I’m 17, I have all of these. We think I may have ADHD, and I also have anxiety and a condition that causes major brain fog. If you feel like something is off, then it’s definitely worth looking into to

To be honest I’m not sure if it’s normal. Everything you mentioned, are all things I’ve honestly felt and had to deal with since I was a child. I’m 18 and I still experience those things on a daily. I guess for me it is my normal

Definitely talk to your primary care doctor about it. They can refer you to someone who can test you for ADHD.

Yes this is very common in anxiety when you're thinking of so many other things and can be hard to keep track of time and remember writing little reminders for yourself in the moment you need to remember something is very helpful whether it be on your phone or sticky note it could also be ADHD but if you are diagnosed with anxiety it could be the main source

My mind will drift off and I'll start thinking about other things causing me to lose focus on my current task it is completely normal and if you have a psychiatrist I recommend talking to them!

I can relate. I have a planner at all times now. I do write even things such as texting people back and little things like that - seems strange to some people, but have to do what we have to do. Color coordination helps me. With all else, I’m pretty transparent about the person I am and I have found a lot of support with family and friends

Sounds like ADHD, but all of those things are also a big indicator of brain fog which could be a symptom of something bigger. Get your thyroid tested and look into your family’s health history!
