Trigger Warning: Self Harm/Self Harm methods I've been close to relapsing on SH for a few days now, as I've found myself in troubleing and unfortunate situations this entire few months. I've been sober from it for only 6 months and it took me almost my entire teenage life (since I was 14) get sober because I've used methods outside of cutting due to my intrusive thoughts via OCD, such as boiling/too hot water, not taking my medication, scratching ect. and I really don't want to fall into that again but it feels inevitable. I could use some help/support..

Wow 6 months is amazing! I've been clean for 6 years but when I was trying to stop I would do everything I could to keep my mind occupied with things I enjoyed (drawing, music, walk outside, video games) I believe in you and I'm here if you need someone to talk to privately šŸ–¤

@PsychoGamer44 It's also important to note that even though I've been clean 6 years is still a daily struggle battling the thoughts but I still manage to make it past the thoughts and take control

One of the replies suggests redirecting the urge into something else like going for a run, playing video games, making an elaborate snack, doing chores, taking a shower, or anything that is safe, distracting, and plausible at the time of the impulse. Another reply recommends transforming it into self-care, such as applying lotion to your skin instead of cutting. If there are objects you have an SH connection with, get rid of them. It's also suggested to share your struggle with a therapist and together think of ways you can reduce and even stop this behavior.
