I have recently been diagnosed with ADHD. I tried adderral and didn't have much luck, but I have switched to ritalin now and have been taking it for 6 weeks. I was wondering if anyone else experienced heightened depressed mood? Did it affect your exercise/motivation? It definately has a lot of positives for me. I am currently going through an extremely high stress situation and I'm not sure if it's that or if the Ritalin is heightening my anxiety and making me feel really depressed continually

I wish I could help more, but unfortunately I think I got recommended this post because I actually just did the same thing! Adderall wasn't really helping with my ADHD, so they prescribed me Ritalin. I haven't noticed any real changes on it yet, but I've only been taking it for maybe a week and I have forgotten a dose or two so I'm still waiting to see if there has any effect. I would definitely try to keep up with it and see how you're feeling with it after the high stress situation has subsided - It's definitely difficult to peg whether or not a medication is working when you're dealing with external circumstances that might be affecting your mood/mental state as well. You've got this!

One user mentioned that they experienced bouts of depression and lack of motivation when using different ADHD medications including Strattera and Qelbree. However, after switching to Ritalin, things improved for them. Another user shared that Methylphenidate made them feel mentally unstable with anxiety and depression. It's important to note that individual responses to medication can vary greatly, and what works well for one person might not work as well for another.
