How do you all find a way to motivate yourself to do things. I have been struggling to even get up out of bed much less do schoolwork. Any advice is appreciated.

I disagree with relying on discipline especially when it can lead to shame. But yes, you do have to try and force yourself to do things that are good for you and will keep you alive. However, the reality is that you can’t just brute force yourself into doing EVERYTHING important. Just focus on the most important things. Don’t be afraid to lower your expectations and put in half effort for some things. Try to let go of feeling guilt and shame for not doing things when you’re just being economical, not just because it feels worse but because it takes energy to feel those when you’re already in short supply. It’s ok to let some things fall to the wayside so that you can keep chugging along. Focus on your health, school, and support system. I always remind myself that as long as I’m here, it’s never over, no matter how low things are getting. Barely graduating is still graduating. Not graduating doesn’t mean you won’t have a fulfilling life. But I do wish you the best and hope you can still do okay in school.

Relying on motivation will almost always lead you to hurt. The most important thing you can learn in this situation is to practice discipline. Forcing yourself to do the things that will help you. Such as keeping a good hygiene, exercise, meditating and/or breathing exercises, eating healthy, getting adequate sunlight, working on goals you have for at least 15 minutes a day, getting out of bed, stretching, & everything else along those lines. It's a very difficult journey, no doubt, but you're so much incredibly stronger than you think you are. You can do great things, give yourself time. You'll greatly notice an improvement in your mental health. You can do it!
