I have a serious problem with motivation, I'm unable to motivate myself to do school work or to even do the things I wanna do,but it doesn't block me from doing everything because I could still go to work but my school grades are being effected by my lack of motivation

School work was horrible for me I barely passed highschool, but a trick that worked for me was finding one item to keep with you when you do school work. I had a “homework” blankie. Even though I don’t have school work to do anymore the blanket still tricks my brain sometimes that I should be doing something rn.

I have a few things I do to help with this! • Get in the mindset anything is better than nothing. It's better to fold one shirt, than none. • Try the 5 minute rule. Instead of focusing on doing the complete task, focus on doing it for 5 minutes. • I use a "might as well" trick to actually do the task. I fold one shirt and then go "might as well" fold another one. Then "might as well" fold them all because I'm here and I don't want to do it later. • Anything that takes less than 10 minutes to do, do it immediately! • Understand you aren't going to be motivated all the time, or most of the time, no one is. Actually doing tasks, especially long or boring ones, comes down to self-discipline. I use alarms. I'll set an alarm on my phone for like an hour to work on the task, and I can't do anything else until that alarm goes off. It helps to have a place designated for the task, and to have all distractions in another room. • Getting started on a task is usually the hardest part, and it's better to just do the task and be done with it.
