School has been really hard lately. I have few friends and I don’t feel truly connected to any of them. It feels like I have to put on a show everyday just to get them to laugh or like me. It’s honestly exhausting, but my school is so small and nobody really likes me. I just want to find people who I can relate to. I have been lonely for a really really long time and it just keeps on getting more and more painful

I relate to this alot, I feel your pain not having friends you connect to and going to a small school. I try not to think about it though and I just try being myself and just telling myself once I'm done with school I can meet people that I can actually connect with.

@amobeear im sorry that you feel this way too, but thank you for reaching out. I try to tell myself this too, but it still hurts in the moment. Still it’s good advice so thank you

School is always stressful. I feel like I act like myself and I still don't make friends either. I don't even know how to make people laugh. My only friend who talks to me is my ex who is very unemotional. I don't even know how I even have an ex And at work they ask me for money.

Just be yourself! try not to put on a show! if u don’t feel connected find another group outside of school, like an outdoor activity or a league. people with the same interests that’s the first thing that can spark new friendships! Remember just be yourself! let them know and like you for who u truly are!

I am the same exact way. Even though I don't have many friends currently and I am going through the same thing, I know that good people WILL come around. It's going to get better, trust me!

@vector thanks, it’s so comforting to know that others are going through the same situation as I am. It’s awesome that you’re able to keep that mindset. I’ll try my best to maintain that hope for the future! Thanks for reaching out. I really appreciate it

I went on VR recently and found a community of really fun people. It made me really happy for the first time in a while, and i just went on to talk, and ended up spending two hours chatting. It might be nice to explore your interests on a social platform like VR Chat or Tumblr, just find something that makes you happy and go with it; there’s always people who are interested in the same thing. Good luck 👍!

@MuffinCat I actually have an Oculus but I’ve never even contemplated chatting online so thank you for the recommendation! That actually sounds like a great idea.. I’ll try it out soon. Thanks for reaching out. I really appreciate it

I want to encourage you that where you're at doesn't last forever. I experienced that painful loneliness for so long and I thought I would never escape it. Now I'm living with my best friends and rarely if ever feel lonely. Please believe that where you're at is just a moment in time. I'm sorry I don't have more practical advice for you.

online friends are really helpful, often times the people you relate most to are across the globe from you, but you are able to share moments with people that truly care about you :)

Honestly what helped me a ton was making friends online. By finding a game that I like to play then I could find people equally as interested as I am to become friends with.
