My parents got divorced earlier this year but have been toxic fighting for 12+ years (I’m 24). Truly their split is for the best. Neither parent is “to blame” they’re just both bad fits for one another. My mom, however, is a really negative person and I have found myself spending a LOT more time with my dad this year. I feel really guilty and like a bad kid for choosing a holiday (thanksgiving) with him (although offered other options for my mom too). Anyone else struggle with this or any advice?

Both parents should love and enjoy the time the have with you and respect all your decisions.

I can't relate entirely to your situation, but it seems to me like you're putting your mental health first by choosing Thanksgiving with your father. Don't feel guilty for that. You didn't have to offer your mother other options, but you did, which was very nice of you.
@a.f thank you!!! Yes I forget I do have to take care of my own mental health!
