My new therapist told me that I have severe generalized anxiety. I can’t help thinking to myself I’m using this diagnosis as a crutch and that in reality I’m just lazy :/

I understand that feeling, you're not alone. I've felt that SO MANY TIMES in my "getting better' journeys. I usually feel it the most when I'm starting to make progress improving from a depression spell or period of high, uncontrolled anxiety and I'm faced with a Task that I don't want to do. Especially when I previously was unable to do the Task because I was too depressed or anxious. It is sooo tempting to say "no, I can't do the Task because I'm still depressed/anxious." Personally, I think it is one of hardest parts of the "getting better" journey. I think this is a little different than what you've described, but it's what it made me think of and I wanted to share so you know you aren't alone.
