I'm worried I may never have a life I like. its been so long without the fundamental things needed for safety and security and socialization, the necessary grief and pain are seemingly unending. the holidays are going to be a particularly difficult time. I might loose my home and be homeless for the second time in a year. for the nth year, I won't have a place to go for the holidays. I dont have a job or unemployment or any more savings. I lost my best friend. Im having a difficult time asking for help from newer friends. I perpetually feel misunderstood, being neurodivergent can be very isolating. and I would feel like such a burden on a friends couch and domt want to loose all my things. and as much as some people might tell me it gets better, realistically with so much adversity its likely to stay difficult for some time. and realistically the mental health care isn't always adequate to meet peoples needs regardless how much we earnestly and proactively search for help.

What’s the biggest thing you could do to help yourself right now? I absolutely HATE the feeling of having no support. It sends me into a panic. But… if I look at how I got to where I am… it was all me. Yes, people “supported” me. But I did all the hard work. I’m sure you did too! So what can you do today that future you will be thrilled about?

@AlikeYou33 the more I read about trauma and autism the more I find the single most helpful thing is community and connection. Love and support. The most I can do is try and socialize as much as possible to increase the likelihood ill find people who want to stay and not leave. But I can't control other people misunderstanding me.

@SunInAugust I’ve been finding really compassionate people on TikTok who share similar struggles and it’s made me feel better, too. Is there a local support group you can join? Or. Keep it “social…” is there something else going on locally you can get into that’s not health related? Best thing I did a few years ago was start going to weekly bar trivia. I made some great friends I would have never met otherwise! Don’t stop asking for help from government either. I feel like we all often short ourselves when we need it the most. The supports that are there should be used when you need them. So if you can ask for more support in any way, don’t hesitate!
