I took this medication once and it honestly just scared me and gave me more anxiety. I understand it takes 2-6 weeks to make a difference, but I don't believe I'm going to be able to wait that long in a state of heightened anxiety. I have an appointment Monday to talk about it with my doctor, these were prescribed in the ER after a panic attack I had and I think I want to discuss other treatment options. this is the first time I've ever sought help with my anxiety, and I'm only doing it because apparently a panic attack feels like I'm dying and I'm already way too afraid of death to be dealing with that while raising kids. Any advice?

Based on the replies, it's common for anxiety medications to take some time before they start showing effects. It can be frustrating and sometimes even increase anxiety in the beginning. However, if you're not noticing any changes or if the side effects are too severe, it's recommended to discuss this with your doctor who might suggest trying a different medication or adjusting the dosage. Some people have found relief with medications like Buspar, while others have had success with SSRIs like Celexa and Prozac. Ultimately, everyone's experience with medication is unique, so it's important to find what works best for you through open communication with your healthcare provider.
