I just had a virtual/telehealth visit with a psychiatrist, as my neurologist said that antidepressants might help me. I was surprised at how quickly the psychiatrist prescribed me antidepressants. It almost seemed…flippant. He just asked me a couple questions about how I feel most of the time, and it took maybe ten minutes max. Never met the guy in my life. And then he approved the prescription. Apparently he doesn’t do any form of talk therapy, which I found a bit disappointing. So yeah, the meds should be in the mail now. He said he’d see me again in about a month to see how they’re helping. I’m kind of skeptical. My primary care physician says they’re probably not needed. So I’m not completely sure if I’ll start the meds as soon as I get them. I’ve got a virtual visit with an actual therapist scheduled this week. Hopefully she can clear up some things. I’ve never taken any sort of mental health drugs.
