Should I Seek Professional Help for My Mental Health?

So last year I started therapy and meds for my depression and anxiety. I felt like my therapist wasn’t the best fit and I just completely stopped going and stopped taking meds. Lately I’ve been having a difficult time with my mental health and i’m struggling to cope with it. I know i could find hobbies and activities to keep me busy but most days it’s hard for me to even care about doing regular tasks. I’m wondering if I should try to find another psychiatrist and/or go back on meds.

I am really bad about taking my meds every day but when I do well for a few weeks I can tell the difference. Also you can see just your family doctor for our issues. I recommend that you get back on them. Good luck

ive gone through MANY many therapists/doctors over the years and like 90% of them suck. I quickly learned to just find a different one immediately if you find them iffy. Don't be afraid to shop around. and youre probably going to have to trial-and-error your way through meds too, to find the right regimen for you (if any.) This all takes time, maybe months or years, so patience is key when recovering

I had a similar issue with a therapist who always turned our sessions around to make everything about her. I requested a different therapist and ended up changing therapists 3 times before finding one that worked for me. I have been with my current therapist for 3 years and finally feel like we are making good progress. Please find another therapist and get back on medication. I too went off mine for a time and spiraled out of control to the point that I began self harm and landed in a psych hospital for a week. It did me a lot of good but could have been avoided if I had only realized it was my right to request someone new and find a better fit. I am far from being "fixed" but much closer than I was back then.

Hi! Sounds a lot like my experience. Obviously what works for me may not work for you, but I did go back and find a therapist and worked with my PCP for meds. It’s been a couple of months but I’m starting to feel like my life is more in my control and I can take better care of myself. I recommend starting out with finding a therapist or psychiatrist and determining with them if adding medication would benefit you!
