what are your thoughts about posting mental health awareness on social media? I post awareness for various disorders because either I have them or someone in my family does. then the outer family instead of asking assumes and pretty much talks down about me for having mental health issues the way I do.

i'm sorry people from your family belittle you for very real and serious things. it's the wrong way for someone who doesn't experience mental health conditions to approach conversations about them. i think it's great that you want to use your platform to share what you know and have experienced, but i've also found that mainstream social media is not the best place for teaching/changing perspectives. in my experience people just gravitate toward others who already think and act like them (even medically!) and don't put in the effort to learn or understand someone who may lead different lives. but change happens one step at a time. i'd encourage that maybe you try spreading mental heath awareness on a more personal basis, with the people you already have a respectful relationship with! you're no less of a person and you are worth it no matter what people say about your mental health struggles. i'm cheering for you, OP ♡
