are you public about your diagnosis to friends? i’m stuck between anxiety about sounding overdramatic and not being believed versus being berated for stuff bc they dont understand why it matters

I've had no choice ... my mental illnesses definitely make themselves known with out me ever intending to

I sorta have to be open, at least with my anxiety disorder as mine is sorta visible. I get really shaky and can have random outbursts or crying spells or panic attacks. I don't think mental illness shouldn't be kept hidden either especially with people who can see it or in your life frequently. It's always nice to have some support and understanding if something comes up due to it in my relationships! I at least personally when starting to talk to someone I want to get closer to, I have to mention my anxiety while other things can be addressed later if needed. If someone isn't going to be understanding in that case it's better to know sooner than later and not let them in your vulnerability

I phrased something wrong here, sorry! "I don't think mental illness should*** be hidden..." my mistake. 🙏

Say whatever feels comfortable to your friends, but try not to be too comfortable in the sense u start saying your conditions off the bat too strangers

Do what feels authentic, but try not to live in fear of rejection from friends...true friends will believe you, respect you, and will help you heal. Those who don’t, aren’t true friends . That’s what I’ve learned at least. I hope this helps you.💚
