Struggling with a Partner Who Doesn't Understand My Mental Illness

I find the people who are the most empathetic/sympathetic to those with mental health issues are people who themselves have been on their own personal journey - learning they have a mental health disorder and fighting to overcome its symptoms. Those who have not traveled that path have a really hard time understanding and being compassionate toward those who suffer with mental health stuff. Its not necessarily their fault, they just have no frame of reference. But keep trying and hopefully eventually it will make it through their thick skull.
