Is anyone else frustrated at people not taking your migraines seriously? I have a constant headache that occasionally "flares up" into a migraine if im not taking my medication. When I was in a mental hospital nobody took me seriously until I cried and flipped out at people because they had forgotten to order my meds and I was off of them for 3 days. I got in trouble for being rude even after apologizing the morning after and explaining that it was because I was in pain and frustrated about my meds. (i was freaking out at around 11 because I couldn't sleep because of the pain and all they had was the tiniest dose of Tylenol ever) I am sick of doctors assuming that Im overreacting when I'm crying over a migraine because im "so young" or because I've never been hospitalized for them before. (Which, imo, I don't want to go to a f**king hospital if i have a migraine unless im literally falling over. They make them so much worse for me)

I have been told "You're not getting migraines." or asked if "I'm sure its not just a headache." countless times. Its hereditary and an entire side of my family has them. I don't know why people still think I'm faking. Seeing it on my diagnosises when I was looking at my medical records recently was one of the most validating things ever for some reason. Even hospitals would rather diagnose me with bipolar disorder (which is fine, but there are a lot of key traits that I do not have which made me question it) because of my meltdowns when I have migraines from hospital lights and all that noise. On what planet does it make sense to see "Chronic Migraines" on a patients file, hear them complaining about a migraine, and then when they start breaking down because of a migraine, do you diagnose them with bipolar??? I'm still seething over this LMAO

Definitely. People just don’t get it and many don’t even bother to try. I’m sorry you had such a fucked experience in the hospital
