Hey. I was discharged from the hospital a few days ago for a mental health crisis. About three weeks ago, my medications totally stopped working. All of my symptoms came back and I became hella suicidal. I'm having a very hard time sleeping at all, and I'm struggling with my eating disorder again. Even though I was discharged, it feels like nothing has improved. They did start switching me over to new meds but it isn't helping. Does anyone have any recommendations or experience with this?

Hi, first I recommend not to despair. The drugs take several weeks to start working fully, so a few days is not enough time to test it. I suggest continuing to persevere and take them. If you still feel you need help I suggest going to your doctor and maybe he can help more.

All I can say is I see you. Medications take a while to work and I know it seems like forever but you have to try to wait for the medicine to work. If you feel you are a danger to yourself you should go to the nearest emergency room.

on the sleeping and meds part- do you have anxiety, and have you tried trazodone? with higher doses it serves as a sedative, and personally it's the only medicine that's genuinely helped with my anxiety. it also helped me fix my sleep schedule, since i kept falling asleep at maybe 6/7 PM, it helped me control when i wanted to sleep. my only issue with it, is that you have to eat before you take it, and sometimes a full meal for me still isn't enough to make it work. plus, some family of mine said they had hella weird dreams on it, but for me it was never as bad a zoloft nightmares haha
Next time you notice your medication stop working, please call your psychiatrist/doctor and set up an appointment to see them very soon. Even if it is just a manic panic it is still good to go to them, they will have a lot of the answers ❤️
