I feel dependent on my medication, but I can’t tell if it’s because I’m abusing other things (nicotine , thc). i dont like the pills, i think i prefer more organic stuff like actual marijuana, not the vape. i dont know how to bring this up with doctors or my family

Im in the same boat as you! I use nicotine and thc daily. Very slowly trying to cut down the amount of nicotine I use. But I would say that’s the first thing you should work on eliminating before seeing any changes in finding an answer to your question of what you’re actually dependent on. Medication, although we become dependent on it, isn’t being consumed for anything other than trying to maintain a stable homeostasis. Vices such as nicotine and caffeine become addictive as we consume them and therefore need more of the drug to feel at ease, when in comparison were on a certain stable amount of medication. If you truly want to see if what you’re dependent on is your medication, then you need to make medication the controlled variable in your exploration and isolate that in your body, without the influence of dependent factors like thc and nicotine. Not saying this is easy, but from an experiment standpoint this is what makes sense to do to discover whether it’s meds you’re dependent on or thc and nicotine. Also: side note: don’t be ashamed of using thc as medication. Studies are far behind the benefit of it for the field of mental health. I’ve met more people who it’s helped significantly than hurt.
