!! tw !! substance abuse !! my depression is worsening with just the thought of being away from smoking for just a measly week or two. this sucks and my brain n heart hurt thinking about it. does anyone have any healthy coping mechanism suggestions/advice?

      Look into vaping, much better than smoking. I vape personally and helped me quit the cigs.

      I am all for smoking cannabis. If you cant smoke take some edibles.

      I'm almost 6 months smoke free but I had help from my doctor and Chantix. I had tried nicotine gum and patches in the past with no luck.

        @marcieee yeah cannabis can be applied to most of the same coping mechanisms listed above :) i have a bit of an addiction to it too, and that stuff helps

      i personally struggle with addictive personality issues, so i recommend finding something thats similar but different. if its an issue with smoking nicotine and not just smoking in general, i recommend smoking herbs. lavender is a good one, as it helps with bodily pain, headaches, restlessness, and sleep (one of my favorites). or if its just smoking in general, everytime you have the urge do a specific task or eat something specific. like, my mom used eat sugar free lollipops everytime she had the urge, and it helped for a good while. nicotine gum is also an option you can get without a prescription and ive seen it work alright with a lot of my ex smoker friends :)
