does anyone else with did not use the term "system"? we speak in plurals when talking about us as a whole but refer to us as a person with did, i think the reason we do this is because we're not exactly a "system" while we are sometimes systematic and we (alters) have roles, theyre not always 100% and sometimes we do things differently. at the end of the day we've survived through being like this - and theres this attatchment to being so blurr-ily distinct. dissociation has saved us and me, marice find that hey the others have endured so much trauma im unaware of to protect me, and ive endured traumas different alters arent/are aware of, to protect them. we do this to protect us, we lived like this as a child, and continue to live like this - its not conscious, its just how we learned to live. being so disturbed from such a young age, lack of integration, lack of a supportive system outside of this body - finding one in ourselves, its odd yet so familair. before we even knew this was called did, before proffesionals were involved, we were aware of this, of us, and our livlihood and our fight to survive and eventually live has not stopped, and we will continue to uphold eachother, through disagreements, pain and trauma, and hatred.
