Understanding DID Systems

I've been living with DID for a very long time and i don't think I fully understand what a system is. I've seen it around a lot online and it confuses me a bit. I understand what it means at face value, a system of alters that "operates" in one body. (I think) but other than that I'm not sure I understand it. I've never called myself a system and i don't know if i ever will since I don't feel like it fits my situation. I've undergone integration therapy so maybe that has a part in it? does anyone have information on the subject or insight? I would really appreciate it.

we're a system. like you understand, a system of alters who operate together to live daily life, basically. i dont think i entirely understand your question (we're also autistic) so if you have possibly more specific questions we'd be happy to answer and inform! -cody

🤗 Yeah, it's a pretty online term, I've known a few specialists who don't know the term and some who do. But you have the concept down, for sure! That's about what it means.
