I had an IUD placed on Friday. and I will say, it was the worst pain of my life. i’ve had a near death experience and even that didn’t hurt that bad. but here’s where the story gets interesting. I had it placed. went to the hospital in the middle of the night for the worst cramping and bleeding. they took amazing care of me. I went back to that hospital today because I needed to get it removed. I called the on call doctor. she said the ER will definitely take it out. got there, the triage nurse was so nasty. she kept yelling at me because “ER docs have never removed them, ever.” I was like I totally understand. I was just told to come here, and that’s why i’m here. she shoved me off to the fast care clinic in the hospital. which I was totally fine with. she was super quiet and I said thank you. and she walked away laughing. she told the nurse not to deal with me that was in the clinic. I waited 3 hours for care. to see anyone. 3 hours in insane pain. when the doctor came in to remove it, I heard her tell the nurse she would need back up. for an IUD removal?? well I looked at my chart once I got home. they had put down BPD which I was misdiagnosed with 5 years ago. they all treated me like crap because I had a diagnosis 5 YEARS AGO!! a mental health diagnosis has NOTHING a to do with an IUD removal. I got through the ER on a friday night after 12am and had an ultrasound faster than I had the IUD removed. the nurse even told me in triage that if I was looking for drugs that I wasn’t getting any. which is insane. I work in healthcare. I WORK THERE! they can see it in my chart. they obviously looked through my chart enough to find a 5 year old misdiagnosis. overall I am so disappointed, anyone else having problems receiving good care because of mental health diagnoses? I mean I have been treated pretty poorly. but this poorly? nope. even as a psych patient. i’m so disappointed.
