Thinking of getting an IUD, but scared of the pain

I have an IUD that was placed about 4 years ago. I’m not going to lie the insertion and about 12 hours after were uncomfortable. The worst part is that they need to stabilize the cervix and do so with an instrument but it’s very quick. The insertion itself is maybe 10-15 seconds? Then I experienced a lot of cramping afterwards. My gynecologist made sure to tell me to take something beforehand and if I needed something for nerves she offered that (which I hear isn’t common but depends on your doc). Otherwise I have no complaints. I don’t notice it whatsoever and have had no issues over the last 4 years.

I have the nexplanon implant, left a little bruising that week but it's been good. I do feel like weight with not stay off though.

I had Mirena for about 4 years. On insertion day, I just about flew off the table. Then I had to take the rest of the day off. Next day it was better though and I didn’t feel it ever again. I was hospitalized when they took it out during a cytoscopy, so I didn’t feel that.

I had excruciating cramps from mine and it made my fibro worse. Also I had a reaction to the copper. If you already get menstrual cramps it makes them worse, unless you've already had children.

I have an iud but I was put under for the insertion. The pain for the next few days was terrible but I asked and they gave me pain meds. I went with copper because hormone implants (and all other hormone birth control) can cause mood swings and depression, acne, weight gain, all kinds of shit that I didn't want to risk. The pain is definitely something to take note of but hormone birth control have a lot of horror stories which is why i avoid it

I prefer the nexplanon implant

you can ask if general anesthesia in the OR is an option. my gyno told me they would do that for me if i got an IUD but i’m not comfortable with them personally

I've never experienced it but ilymations on YouTube talks about it. The doctor said to her, your body can go into labor because it thinks that's what's happening so you'll have the same pain as you would with giving birth, and ily didn't even have the doctor barely touch her when that happened, oh and the effects last a couple days after so you'll still have weird labor pains. Ily decided to just get the arm implant instead. I recommended watching it still though I might've missed a few things but also it has funny visuals.
