Dealing with IUD Pain: Seeking Advice

hi everyone. so i got my iud implanted in early february, and i’ve had insane levels of abdominal pain ever since. i ended up going to the ER and they found a hemorrhagic ovarian cyst, which isn’t technically related to my iud but they said the iud’s effect on my hormones could have made me notice the pain, since before apparently i could have had the cyst but just thought the pain was from my period. they said it would go away on its own, but i’ve still been in a lot of pain. i followed up with a gynecologist and was told i have a very small uterus, which could be causing me to also have bad abdominal pain since my uterus is too small for the iud and is being irritated by it (or something like that). they said i might need to have my iud removed if the pain continues since it’s affecting my day to day life. i was just wondering if anyone has experience with this? how did you handle the pain? did you get your iud removed? are there other birth controls you recommend? should i follow up with my doctors again? i collapsed onto the floor because of the pain yesterday but at this point it’s not even shocking because that’s happened quite a few times in these past few months. it’s just tiring to feel terrible every day, so advice is appreciated.

I haven't got my IUD yet so can't say I have experienced it but it sounds really not worth keeping it in, in your case. Re the birth control methods, if you experience painful intercourse like me, you might like the female condom. It's a bit pricey and requires a lot of lube but it's quite comfortable (once in) and I'm getting used to using it. Also there are progesterone only vaginal rings that are prescribed to people as HRT, not available in my country but maybe available on yours as an off-label treatment?
