I don't know if anyone will see this, but I wanted to write it out. Today I have been made to feel humiliated by a doctor at the hospital. She's made me feel so ashamed and disgusted with myself for having a high BMI I have never had a doctor make me feel this way before đ

I've had this many many times. I have lipodema and despite having a moderately average sized waist, my legs and arms are huge and heavy which makes me morbidly obese. I get some absolute stick at the doctors for being overweight and have to shrug it off now. Id like to see how many miles they could walk a day carrying some seriously heavy stuff...then on days off do a few hours of pole dancing class where I haul 19 stone of myself off the floor with my arms. Let em get on with it. Just smile, agree and walk away thinking whatever. X

Time for a new doctor hun! I saw a show that talked about gaslighting but she made a good point. Your first visit should be like an interview for you to decide if they are the right doctor. If this doctor is âfat shamingâ you all the time. That is not healthy for you mental health which can contribute to overeating. Please get a new doctor babe. You do not deserve to be treated like that and I used to weigh 301 and had to have a gastric bypass so that was constant weight talk but they were always kind, nice , and respectful about it. Im not telling you to go do that I am just saying that when I was a heavy person my bmi was always brought up but my doctors never made me feel bad. You deserve the best.

I'm sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with a doctor. It's important to remember that doctors are there to help and support you, not to make you feel ashamed or humiliated. If you feel comfortable, consider discussing your concerns with another healthcare professional who may be more understanding and supportive.
