Looking for Help After Domestic Violence

I went thru some pretty serious domestic violence and was strangled back in August. I'm living with some family for now but I left everything behind and walked away from my lease with my apartment. are there any organizations to help get established again and help with deposits, furniture etc.. ?

      I'm so sorry to hear that, sounds like my situation. Message me if ya ever wanna chat. My situation happened in 2006, so I've been around. Can you get on a housing list, for a section 8 voucher? Ot may take time but worth it. Do you have a salvation army pr rescued treasures? Sometime they will do vouchers for bedding/furniture. I'm sure I know of more help but I won't think of it all at once. My mind doesn't work on demand. I wish you the best!

        @nsiberian thank u. I have a 2 yr protective order against him. There's a warrant out for his arrest but he is nowhere to be found.

          @Summer1980 ugh I don't like that, hope he stays away. Sucks not knowing where the hell they are. Just stay away!!! I'm so glad you got a 2 yr order!!!

      That’s a terrible situation and it’s awful to hear that you had to endure it. I had to walk away from an unbearable situation, too. There’s an organization in NJ called Women Aware. I suggest calling them & asking for support. (I’m unsure of where you live, but they make know some resources.) Or, contact your local Human Services division. Google: Domestic Violence Assistance or Homeless Assistance. You were SMART to leave. I hope you realize this is temporary. (“Just for now” was my mantra for a LONG time.) New beginnings are always tough, yet sooo worth it in the end when you do what’s best for YOU!!! Best wishes as you create your new life. 🤗

      Call local churches, they should have resources for you to utilize.

      My counselor has done great things for me, her brain works better. If you could find a counselor or social worker
