Has anyone had any success with Pacing? I was told that I need to keep my BPM under 90 and I have not had a single day where I successfully kept it under 90, even when resting 😭 I don't do jack and my heart's still like "I gotta zoom". it's frustrating

@SleepyLizard But also it's good to feel it out. This isn't an exact science unfortunately. So for instance if you are doing an activity (standing at the kitchen sink) and your heart rate is 120 bpm but you still *feel* like you're exerting yourself and getting tired then that might indicate your threshold is lower. Also doesn't help that the exertion threshold will probably change day-to-day πŸ™„

It's different for everyone so just assigning a number to stay under is unhelpful. A more helpful guideline is your heart rate threshold for exertion is 15% above your resting heart rate. So if you measured your resting heart rate for a week and took an average and got 90bpm, then you should stay under 135bpm (90Γ—1.5) to avoid exertion

Pacing is the only way i survive daily life lol but HR pacing is a whole other ballgame. I used to pace using my HR before I had access to medication for my POTS (comorbid to my ME). It helped tremendously, but it also sucked bc my HR was constantly 170-200bpm. lmao 🫠 I was just constantly sitting down all day. Walk to another room? Immediately sit down. Standing in line? Nope, sit down. You got up to get something? nOPE, get someone else to get it, you're done πŸ˜‚πŸ˜… Now that I'm medicated with a beta blocker, my HR is normalized.... but I've been meaning to get a new wearable (prob a fitbit bc my samsung watch stopped working eek) to start HR pacing again to hopefully avoid PEM as much as possible... Ideally, I plan on staying below 100-110 at all times. may have more updates in the future once I get new watch :]

@RyeRyeBread I'm on a beta blocker 😭 and these spikes are while I'm resting! It doesn't help that my house life and applying for disability has been stressful

Apparently there's a link between cfs/me and abnormal heart rhythms? β™‘ I have cfs/me and I'm usually very tachycardic, my resting BPM is often 90+ too β™‘

@coffeecupcai it's so dumb that they say it's our best chance of getting even slightly better but they never even tell us how since our hearts are super speedy by themselves

One user mentioned that they struggle to get their heart rate up when exercising, but it barely gets over 135 BPM. However, there is no specific mention of success with pacing or keeping the BPM under 90 in the provided context.
