@Beithne I am working on getting a hysterectomy. I'm 39. I just was upset it was not my decision, the doctors feel that since I cannot take hormones that I need it to my complex hyperplasia from getting worst. The world does not understand a 39 year old that I cannot have kids. I feel powerless.

Hugs. I have to see a surgeon for a hysterectomy date in July.

I have endometrial hyperplasia and I asked, begged, for a hysterectomy (I'm 46 and on Mirena to prevent cancer) but they keep saying I might want children... fools! Not at this age! Ugh I hate men controlling Healthcare. But back to topic... a hysterectomy is not the end of the world. It is scary to think about major surgery. We are here for you! You need to try to build a good support system, friends and family who can help you with physical tasks and such. And surround yourself with comfort and convenience, things close at hand to help you during recovery. Comfortable, loose clothes, and entertainment items (books, remotes, laptop, etc) in a place where you plan to rest often during recovery.

I'm getting a hysterectomy next month and I'm honestly so crazy excited. I believe it to be one of the best decisions I've ever made.

@Meg678 I just found out my doc wants to do another dnc. This will be my fourth. I think I'm ready to just get the hysterectomy as aid rather have than that than cancer. How do you even prepare?

@RubixCat there's some items to get that can help you prepare for the aftercare - belly binder, a nightgown, loose loose underwear... A few other things. Emotionally though, I think the main focus is that it's going to fix so many problems. Almost no woman regrets a hysterectomy, unless she wanted to have more children. But physically it helps so many health issues.
