anyone else sometimes feel weird when they try to sleep. like when I'm super tired but can't stay asleep and decide to close my eyes my body feels like it does when I'm cataplexying. or I feel like my chest is sinking and can't move my body cause It feels too heavy.

It sounds like you’re body is sinking into sleep paralysis which can be terrifying feeling but if you can actually sleep through it you can have really great vivid dreams but again often people want to break it instead because it doesn’t feel good at first and it can cause scary hallucinations but it won’t hurt you! It’s a challenge. I personally struggle with it sometimes but less since being on Effexor

I feel like this when I take my xyrem to go to sleep which I do recommend as far as medication goes. I know the phenomenon of sleep paralysis which is common amongst narcoleptics can cause this type of feeling as well

Yep! Totally feel this, especially when I’m trying to take a nap. Idk how to explain it, I feel like it’s a combination of cataplexy and your body falling asleep but you’re still aware like a lucid dream. Sometimes I’ll start “thinking” of work or something that seems normal and it turns into a hypnogogic hallucination (ex. I’ll think about cleaning my house and then imagine bunnies hopping around lol). To me I take it as a sign that my body needs to rest even if I feel like my mind doesn’t want to. Not sure if this totally relates but I get what you mean!
