i have this friend who i've known for a long time and she's extremely flaky. she cancels plans last minute about 75% of the time. i know she's avoidant and dealing with depression, but she doesn't seek help or acknowledge these things. i'm always patient and reply in an understanding manner when she cancels but. honestly it still hurts a lot she's canceled all of our plans in the last few months. i had a birthday get together thing last weekend and she said she was really excited to go, but then canceled on that last minute too. but just now i saw a different friend post a tiktok hanging out with a couple others and she was there i know it's not personal and everything but šŸ˜ž man. it's just. bpd and rsd don't accept that as an answer you know lol. i feel sick

Talk to her about this as calmly as you can. State very specific boundaries and say how seeing this made you feel. They can't change if they don't have goals. Your pain is 100% valid though so you have to stick to your boundaries here too.

Dealing with depression isn't an excuse to treat your friends badly, especially for such a long period of time. If she doesn't want to get help for herself, it might be time for you to stop being friends with her. There's nothing you can do for people who are unwilling to help themselves.
