It's finally getting better. I have been in therapy and on meds off and on for almost 15 years at this point. All the CBT wasn't helping because no matter how much I challenged the thoughts I still had the anxious feelings and Zoloft helped for a few beautiful months but then stopped working. In the past few months I've committed to going to therapy three times a week and started seeing a psychiatrist in addition to my general practitioner. Every week now I do one session of EMDR, one session of talk therapy, and one session of group D&D therapy. I've also been switching meds to Prozac. The results I'm seeing are wild. I think the combination of EMDR and Prozac are especially working for me. The EMDR stuff is so easy competitively and seems kind of like BS but in around 8 sessions I'm already seeing huge changes in the way I respond to triggers and feel. I have so much more confidence in two months and now for the types of situations I've reprocessed in EMDR I am realizing I still have the same thought pattern but I'm not getting worked up emotionally. This allows me to then use the CBT I've been practicing for years to adjust my thoughts and behavior. if you have anxiety or PTSD, do yourself a favor and give EMDR a shot.
