It's great that you are already seeking guidance to be an educated patient so you can advocate for yourself. A WBC can indicate many things other leukemia. What does your doctor think it could be?

It's okay to be worried, but try to focus on one step at a time.

it can also be other things! I went through something similar, and in addition to blood work, my doctor scheduled me for a CT scan to check for enlarged lymph nodes or other abnormalities in my organs. It helped piece together a more complete picture.

When my WBC count was high, my doctor ordered a more detailed blood analysis called a differential to see the types of white cells increased. Ask about the possibility of getting an ultrasound or MRI, especially if they suspect anything beyond just a blood disorder. These imaging tests can provide insights into your overall health and whether there's an impact on your organs.

Based on the context provided, it is not specified what specific tests should be asked for when dealing with elevated white blood cell counts. However, one person mentioned that they had periodic blood tests and discussions about the disease's progression and treatment options with an oncologist. Another person was referred to a hematologist due to increasing white blood cell count.
