I've been having issues lately with waking up roughly 5 hours after going to bed no matter when I fall asleep (10pm, 2am, doesn't matter. I'll still wake up in 5 hrs). And once I wake up, I can't fall back asleep. It doesn't happen every night, for a week or so it was consistently every other night (5hrs, 10hrs, 5hrs, 10hrs...). Then it stopped for a few nights, and now it started again. I don't understand why it's happening. I never used to have issues sleeping through the night. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any advice on what to try or what helps?

For the last 3 weeks approximately I've been waking up around 430 and 6 am before my alarm at 6:15 and on the weekends when I don't set an alarm. I tried melatonin and I still woke up early but only once. I'm going to try melatonin again. I was allergic to the flax in my other one. I'm on a mold detox protocol.

With all these pains I only sleep 2-3 hours tops. I try not to nap in the daytime because I’ll be up all night. But I been with this deprivation of sleep since 2008😔

@Elladolores I'm really sorry, that sounds absolutely horrible. My heart and prayers go out to you ❤️

@Snowy thanks sweetheart I just don’t quit. I will live and not let my pains live for me. Except at night when I feel like I been beat up with a bat. 🥴

Have you tried using a sleep mask that blocks out light, then viewing sunlight for 5 or 10 minutes shortly after you intend to be awake? It's my understanding that the light/dark cycle sets the body's circadian rhythms, causing the production of melatonin at the appropriate time. Also avoid bright lights after sunset. I love my sleep mask - it has helped me immensely. Also, don't underestimate the value of just lying calm and restful in bed. Non-sleep deep rest is valuable too!

@JoyfulOne I have sensory issues with a number of things bc of my autism. I can't STAND the feeling of sleep masks on my face. I 100% subscribe to the circadian rhythm, light/dark stuff. In fact, if the room is too dark, I will sleep for like 12 hrs. Or sleep for a normal amount of time but wake up suuuper drowsy and I can't shake it the whole day! Maybe that means I just need to go to bed earlier so I can wake up with the sun... at 5am... :( Thank you for your reply! ❤️

I was having a hard time sleeping through the night. I started taking extended release melatonin. It helps me a lot. I get it from Natrol. I'm on 3mg extended release

@JanaeV I got that for my bf who also has sleeping issues but he is extremely NOT sensitive to medication of any sort so it didn't much work for him. Do you know if it's habit-forming? I'm concerned that my sleep schedule could get even worse if I start taking meds like melatonin then stop once things get figured out.

For like the past 2 months my sleep patterns have been wonky like that too. Unfortunately I don't have any advice but I do take buspar, THC and/or melatonin to at least get me to sleep for a few hours. Melatonin is the safer option though, maybe you could give that a try if you haven't already. I'm sensitive to drowsy meds so it doesn't take much to knock me out but maybe try a small dose to start.

@Cookiee I'm super sensitive too! Heck, even chamomile tea can make me loopy... I don't usually have issues falling asleep, it's staying asleep for the full 8hrs that's the problem. Does the melatonin help with that or just the falling asleep part? My boyfriend is a bit of a stoner and has strongly recommended that I try some form of THC, CBD, D8, D10, something for my anxiety and migraines. I've tried it twice, the first time he gave me WAY too much and I was WAAAY too high (D10), the second time I just fell asleep and still woke up a few hours later (D8). So... idk.

@Snowy I've noticed it usually just helps me fall asleep. I still wake up at my designated time around 6am to take my meds then pass back out sometimes. THC also helps me fall asleep but staying asleep just depends on how I'm feeling mentally and physically I suppose. I can usually get about 6 hours of deep sleep though. It's the morning hours that suck for me and I'm more likely to wake up.

@Snowy try a sativa gummy, get 1 cut it in half wait a good hour and you'll start relaxing from your legs up to your brain slowly. And most likely just fall asleep.
